So this guy named James - a double major in Physics and Music - seems interesting enough that I've been trying to get to know him. (No not that way. He has a girlfriend which as you will soon see baffles me.) In the course of me suggesting the 9PM Mass choir to him, he objected that he had no time...

"Wait - four midterms next week? How many classes are you taking?!" (He had a midterm last Friday, too - Diff Eq with me.)

"I'm taking 25 units. Well, actually 28 - don't tell anyone."

"You madman! You must be kidding me!"

I am slightly embarrassed by how much admiration was in my voice when I said that. But all things told, where does he get the time to talk to his girl, much less go on dates?!

Music majors always have 25+ units per semester. It's because music performance units basically consist of playing an hour a week per unit. It doesn't require out-of-class study or any other sort of work, other than keep playing and don't suck. Your concept of how much time is taken out of your week is very different for classes which require out-of-class reading/study/work compared to music performance :) And even the theory classes and composition classes take very little time.

Which I would understand perfectly if it weren't for the fact that he's in all of my harder classes.

On the other hand, he only has one job.
