Men in my life
Oct. 5th, 2008 06:12 pmIt's been a busy couple of days, so I think a post is a bit overdue.
For starters, Matt came driving through on Friday night. I thought I might play a quick roleplaying game with him and Tamara, but it turned out he was an hour and a half later than planned so I ended up teaching Tamara's friend Ryan the basics of 3.5 and when Matt got there I was already starting a quick combat with Tamara and Ryan's characters vs. a random tentacle monster. I had Matt play the tentacle monster's internal monologue and he made me laugh madly when the monster was down to two arms and he said "well, at least I can count to four in binary." Afterward we went to the Mini Gourmet to chat and joke and I built awesome structures out of half and half containers like Collin and Jeff used to. He brought me home around 2 AM.
The next morning I finally went to dance lessons with Jeremy. I think it's been almost two months since he first asked?! I'm just glad he finally felt well enough. After, we wandered around various shops and I showed him the nice restaurants near the symphony hall. We also wandered around Love Fest to admire the costumes and speculate on what the heck it was about. It was more fun than actually finding out.
On my way home I got rather sadly introspective, started weeping a bit over Jeff. I finally talked to him today... well, I feel like I lost a race - a disappointment I'm used to, so now that it's done the pain is duller than when I still was running and trying to win. I never was much of a runner in high school, and the rare victories were more devastating emotionally than the defeats. (Effectively, he doesn't care right now if I'm a friend or just an acquaintance. I wish I could be as valuable to him as I am to... almost any other friend. Ah well, at least he is honest about it.)
Back to yesterday, Papa was at Elis's when I got home, but I played with Julius most of the time he was still there. The boy is getting more and more fun to play with as he gets older and smarter. I hate to think in favorites, but I have to admit I favor him a bit. Soren and Nathaniel are cute though, and Soren especially is so polite to me! And of course Evangeline is still a baby, so she hardly has a personality yet. But Julius is old enough to remember things I tell him, old enough to teach, able to understand jokes a little ...! It's hard not to prefer his company. And besides, he's the one who said he wants to be a librarian spaceman when he grows up, how awesome is that?!
His dad's always been awesome too. Mike makes people around him want to be calmer. I don't always agree with him... But he did ask me to lend him my Doctor Who DVDs last night :). Anyway, I like living with Victorias family, even if she can get bossy :p. Woo, emoticons! Heh.
Life grows better.
