We're waiting to open gifts until my grandparents get here. *impatience*

Alex is wearing bear foot slippers.

And my mother still makes the best Swedish pancakes ever. I do NOT want to know just how much butter I've consumed this morning.....

Fun story

Alex: "...And we painted blue and gold stripes down their backs and set them loose in an open dorm."

Mama, just joining conversation: "Now, where was this?"

A: "Stanford"

M: "Oh! those poor mice! How many were there?"

A: "About a hundred. And they would have been killed or eaten anyway."

M: "My goodness! Where did you get them all, at a vivarium or something?"

A: "No, they were... rescued."

*Papa laughs, and speaks up* "From a lab! You know, Grandma's dog was a rescue too."
