Where are you?

My thoughts are disturbingly empty. I expect a comforting presence in my mind, a sense of benevolence behind my lonely self. You are always there when I need you.

Where, oh Lord, are you tonight?

There have been times when I've ignored you
Times when I've pushed you away
But when I have sought you
When I have needed you

Glance over my shoulder, there you are.
I'd turn to comfort and intangible, inaudible -

there, there my child, all shall be well.
hush, sweet my child, all shall be well.
be calm, dear my child, and all manner of thing shall be well.

Where my Lord are you tonight?

My verses seek you, my heart cries for you
My words find you within my heart.

Here, Lord, please
I need you tonight.
