mayamaiaI missed out on the first part of the physics talk today (another applicant for faculty), but I did get to chat with the guy more than the lady on Monday. He's so young! I mean... if I didn't know he's a post-doc, I'd think he was my age! (He was even asking about fun things to do around here.) (He was cute too, and I think one of the girls was disappointed that he's married.) (Funny part is, I never did catch his name.)
The subject was primarily quantum dots, but what I mostly caught was the bit about buckyballs. (They found that if they moved a buckyball around a field of potassium atoms, it would pick up the potassium around its base, like a mother hen surrounded by chicks.) (Also, they have some really nifty images of buckyballs at varied energy states.)
They ordered too much pizza for the after-talk dinner again. I tried calling Jeff to see if he wanted me to take him some, without luck. I'm getting to know my fellow physics majors better, so that's cool.
Work work. I should do some math.
