Four Years Ago Today

At this point things get a little hazy, time-wise. I'm going to try to put them in the correct order, but figure that between Sunday evening and Thursday night there are some conversations it's hard to place on the correct day, though I can generally remember what time of day it was.
A good day. I think I had a final or two. They went well enough, considering how late I'd been up talking with Jeff. Wrote a poem, too. I decided to plan something nice for that evening, so I set up my candles all over the room, made up the couch nicely, chose a selection of music to play, and then he told me that he wanted to go to bed early that night. So I just made some cocoa for him with cinnamon and nutmeg and chatted, then kissed him goodnight and sat at my computer to distract myself.
About an hour later, I got a knock at my door. There Jeff was in his grey robe, holding his pillow. "See this? This is the pillow that I put my arm around when I sleep. I've done this since I was a small boy. But tonight, I found that it just wasn't enough. Can I sleep here tonight?" *BIG FAT GRIN, and pull him in*
Later on, when it was determined that neither of us was able to stop talking... He expressed his surprise at just how easily we slipped into a relationship. "My mom and sister used to always say that someday I would make one girl very happy. Because I have this perfect idea of how a relationship is supposed to go. You date her, she lets you kiss her, you buy her flowers and candy and eventually you get to make out with her, and someday perhaps you decide she's the one and get engaged - then you can live together and have sex."
*a certain amount of kissing* "See, I'm supposed to buy you flowers before this." "Well, that's never exactly been important with me." *told him about Jordan and Julia, and about how very romantic Kaster had been, and where it failed to get them* "...so just don't worry about it. It's much nicer when those things are unexpected, anyway." "But I haven't even gone on a real date with you." "Would tomorrow night work? We can get dinner somewhere." So we planned dinner.
He also seemed fairly certain that I was trying to push him farther, and said "We aren't going to have sex." I said okay - I wasn't pressing him, I was just going along with things anyway. But it was pretty clear that the option was there. There was quite little I wouldn't have done.
He left early in the morning to get some real sleep and to avoid anyone knowing he'd stayed over.
