About guys.

mayamaiaSo, first of all. I had a friend who needed to get to San Francisco tonight, and her bus was majorly late. I went through everyone I could think of who MIGHT be willing to show up and drive to San Fran on a whim (you know, Matt, sometimes I really miss having you in Walnut Creek) and came up basically dry. Then I decide to call vulture boy and offer to buy him dinner in return for the favor.
The moment the phone starts to ring, the bus appears. I find that coincidence highly convenient and amusing. As it is, she missed the train she wanted, but with the bus there, I couldn't have convinced her to accept the favor anyway. Yes, I am amused.
ALSO. I stand accused of being "picky" about guys. Of maybe 30 guys Lizzie and Sam have pointed out to me in the last few weeks, I've said "eh" about all but maybe four. If this is true, I blame the Trophy Wives Effect and the high school and college I attended. But I maintain that I do not have artificially high, merely DIFFERENT standards. Good intellectual conversation (or argument) makes a guy a heck of a lot cuter.
Oh. And the guy who asked me out at work has been dubbed Murphy. This is because Sam has failed utterly at her attempts to tease me by calling him my boyfriend (twice I just looked mystified and said "Jeff's not my boyfriend anymore, and you haven't even met him"). Also because she didn't get it once when I referred obliquely to Murphy's law. So since the guy has yet to give me his name (even though he's come by twice since and awkwardly asked when I got off work), he gets the name Sam chose.
I'm just amused that she's started coming to work with full makeup in hopes that some guy will ask for her number. I clearly didn't scare her enough with my story of Mr. Wife-of-three-decades.
