I'm watching my 4 year old niece Eva today. A few minutes ago, I peered in her room and she did the Sudden Innocent act, hiding her hands in a little pink bag.
"Hey there. What'cha doing?"
She paused briefly and then said "Nothing. I'm doing nothing."
"Oh. I was just curious what you were up to in here." Definitely a little pink bag she was trying to cover with her hands.
"Just playing on my bed here."
"Ok." I stood around for a moment, then made a grab for the bag. She snatched something out of it and threw it behind her. I looked in the bag. "Hmm, doesn't seem like anything to hide in here." I glanced over and saw the thing she had thrown behind her was a brown marker. "Is that what you didn't want me to see?"
"Yep. I was just talking to this pen here."
I blinked. "The pen. You were talking to the pen."
"Yep."
I started to struggle against a smile. "And do you only talk to it when nobody can see?"
"Yep!"
".....okay then. Is this because of that thing we saw earlier?"
We had watched about the first 10 minutes of Gurnius. I'm not sure anyone even uses a communicator in the first 10 minutes of Gurnius. But she did answer yes.
I have not been around Eva that much for the last several months. But it looks like I am just as bad an influence as ever.....
