So. Just found myself last night thinking, "Man, he's really funny looking for a hot guy," which is basically exactly how I felt when I first watched The Deadly Assassin. The "wait, why is the Doctor suddenly attractive?!" reaction. And the thing is, this wasn't a great epic story. It was just... really fun and the writer gave him some lines that worked perfectly for him.

So it's Stephen Moffat's fault. *grins* I am so looking forward to the rest of the season, with THREE more storylines by the Grand Moff, of which two are two-parters. *happy Franny*

On that note, theory time!

It's pretty clear that over the last five years, Moffat's been ramping up for SOMETHING important around the 51st century. Before he was around, that was just the era K-9 was from. Since him, it has produced Captain Jack and the whole Time agency, the SS Madame de Pompadour (which was capable of allowing time travel), Professor River Song and The Library which contains, and I quote, "every book ever written". Implying that the Library had books written AFTER its time as well as before. And it follows the retro pattern that Captain Jack (and Captain John) and K-9 have (all of them being cutting edge but looking like something from the past). I posit that one of the Time Agency's clients was the Library, and we haven't heard the last of that era.

We also have the standing theories: that Tennant is going to get to play the Valeyard someday (all Blue Suit has to do is kill or maim Rose by accident), the Time Lords and the Master are going to show up again some day. The more popular the enemy, the more surely it will return.
