I cannot concentrate for the life of me. Tonight, to avoid homework I did the following:

- Made hot cocoa for my pseudo-roommate, who tells me she's officially not my roommate come Monday.
- Played a game of Lost Cities with her (I won, 27-21)
- Called up four people or so to crow about having a room to myself
- Went to Safeway with a group of 15 people to dance in the aisles wearing sunglasses
- Started to redecorate my room
- Moped about boys
- Played with fire
- Played with wax
- Amicably "broke up" with Will
- Went to Benson for a midnight snack

The diff eq homework, at least is done (as done as it will get). Onward!

Heh. TMI )

I managed to finish almost all of my homework after all. But when I handed in today's quiz, the instructor looked at it, shook his head and handed it back to me. I felt awful until he announced "Almost all of you are making the same very simple mistake." ...And he was so cool that he gave us a chance to fix it before accepting our papers. He's a nice elderly man, very dignified but funny. It's like learning Math from my grandfather.

I think my world thinks it has a sense of humor. (don't expect to get the joke here) I think it likes messing with my mind. There are two guys I see almost every day, both of whom have dark brown hair, are scruffy, slightly taller than me and lean. One of them lives downstairs from me - I met him doing awesome gymnastics in a ring after one of those silly gladiator competitions. His name is Andy. The other guy is a Physics major, he's in most of my classes and goes to the same talks I do. His name is James. I KEEP MIXING THEM UP. It's annoying, but I can't help laughing about it.
Just saw Take The Lead. Fine movie. I cried a bit, but that's me. Things like this remind me that I was really, really lucky that my dad was stubborn about getting us out of Oakland schools, and that my city struggles.

I'm glad there are several teachers in my family. I'm really glad that we take it seriously. And I'm glad that my parents did so much volunteering for our schools, instituting some improvements that didn't get started until years after we were gone. And above all, I'm glad my old pastor left the church to start a charity for my poor city (I think it's called something like Hope for Oakland or something.)
