*shakes head* Everything I do to give me ideas makes it harder to actually sit down and write. But this is aiming at Supreme Angst after all. I decided to put it into The War Games after all (most artistically sound option but not the easiest), continuing on into Season 6B with Two and Jamie running around together

Here's the main inspiration for it, by the way, the dedication of The Seven Pillars of Wisdom:

To S.A.

I loved you, so I drew these tides of men into my hands
and wrote my will across the sky in stars
To earn you Freedom, the seven-pillared worthy house,
that your eyes might be shining for me
When we came.

Death seemed my servant on the road, till we were near
and saw you waiting:
When you smiled, and in sorrowful envy he outran me
and took you apart:
Into his quietness.

Love, the way-weary, groped to your body, our brief wage
ours for the moment
Before earth's soft hand explored your shape, and the blind
worms grew fat upon
Your substance.

Men prayed me that I set our work, the inviolate house,
as a memory of you.
But for fit monument I shattered it, unfinished: and now
The little things creep out to patch themselves hovels
in the marred shadow
Of your gift.

So there are things you expect to teach kids... and things you don't but end up explaining anyway. This year has been a bit special.

- How to read Cyrillic (during a History lesson on the Russian Revolution) (He ended up making friends with a Polish student because of it?!)
- The basic structure of the Bikini Atoll bomb
- Why birds are dinosaurs (3 times)
- Explaining to a 15 yr old what "shipping" means on the internet. (?!?!?!)
- The origin of lolspeak
- Relating a physics lesson on ...goodness I think it was refraction... to Doctor Who because a girl had a TARDIS case for her phone
- The temporary effect of marijuana on short-term memory (twice) (a.k.a. Why not to use it during testing season)
- A brief history of Star Trek (because the movie), which led to discovering that a teenaged boy with gay parents had never heard of slash.
- Trying very very hard not to be the one to explain to said boy why his dad and I were giggling about a man named Ben Wa.

Yep. Special.

"We have put a force field around you. And around your home planet so that your warlike people shall be imprisoned forever. You and your murderous associates shall be dematerialized. It will be as if you never existed." (sic)

So they didn't commit genocide. They only dropped that group through a crack in time. Okay.

I think, watching these, that it would be out of character for the Time Lords of The War Games to dematerialize Ali on purpose, so it will have to be an accident.
